“Throughout my first year, but especially during O-Week, I remember people were definitely cautious talking to me, like I would pop off at them any second. Despite nearly everyone being pretty accomplished prior to CMU, people were once again especially surprised hearing my achievements. This attitude extended once classes actually started, where people were surprised I understood the material or at my grades.

I don't mean to bash one singular group, but the international students were easily the most egregious perpetrators (not that I blame them, they're largely unfamiliar with people like me in general). The stares were something I pretty much expected, and got over quickly.”
